Monty is a dedicated and highly skilled criminal defense attorney based in San Diego, California. Monty is a former prosecutor who used to be a supervisor in the General Trial Unit of the Criminal Division of the San Diego City Attorney’s Office. During his five years as a prosecutor, Monty has taken numerous cases to trial. Monty has tried over 25 jury trials in the City of San Diego and has handled thousands of criminal cases during his time as a prosecutor.

Monty used to work in the following divisions at the City Attorney’s Office: General Trial Unit, Case Issuance Unit, and the Neighborhood Justice Unit.

Monty also used to be a liaison for the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) and worked at the following SDPD divisions: Northern Division, Eastern Division, Traffic Division, Northwestern/Northeastern Division.

Background
​
Thomas Wesch has been practicing law since 2017. Mr. Wesch graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor's degree in English and then obtained his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law.
​
While in law school, Mr. Wesch served as a clinical intern for the California Innocence Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to freeing the wrongfully convicted. As an intern, Mr. Wesch helped secure Guy Miles' release from prison after eighteen years of wrongful conviction.
Criminal Defense
​
After law school, Mr. Wesch worked at the Riverside County Public Defender's Office in Murrieta. Mr. Wesch also worked at the San Diego County Office of the Public Defender, an office that strives to provide high-quality, effective, and ethical legal representation to indigent individuals facing criminal charges in San Diego County.
​
While at the San Diego County Office of the Public Defender, Mr. Wesch maintained a perfect record of NOT GUILTY verdicts in felony trials. His only verdict that was not an acquittal was a hung jury in a misdemeanor case. However, the hung jury resulted in a dismissal of all charges by the District Attorney.
​
Regardless of the situation, perceived obstacles, or challenges, Mr. Wesch prides himself on relentlessly and zealously advocating for his clients to achieve the best possible result.
